Parkeston
The Parkeston facility is located near Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The facility is dual-fuelled, using natural gas and diesel to generate 110 megawatts.
The Parkeston facility primarily supplies energy to Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines pursuant to a supply contract that extends to October 2028. Parkeston is connected to the South West Interconnected System and has historically supported the grid by selling surplus capacity into the wholesale electricity market.
The plant is fueled by natural gas from the North West Shelf area of Western Australia, which is delivered via the Goldfields Gas Pipeline.
The facility is owned in partnership through a 50/50 joint venture with Northern Star (NPK) Pty Ltd., a subsidiary of Northern Star Resources Limited.
