Mass Solar

The Mass Solar portfolio is comprised of five sites located throughout Massachusetts.

Braley

Braley has the capacity to generate 3.5 megawatts (MW) of power using a ground mount system of 11,662 solar panels. The site covers a 27-acre area in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Braley began operating in March 2015.

The site uses Suntech 290 WP and Yingli 300 Wp modules, SMA SC720CP/SC500CP inverters and a Sunlink mounting system.

Dartmouth

With three adjacent sites over, Dartmouth came on stream in 2014 and has the capacity to generate 7.5 MW. The energy from the 26,870 solar panels is fully contracted right in the same community, to the Town of Dartmouth and the Sheriff of Bristol County.

The site uses a ground mount system with AUO PM 240 WP modules, Suntech 280/290/295 modules, AE 500NX/250NX inverters and a Solar FlexRack mounting system.

Freetown

Freetown is aground mount system over a 40-acre area in Freetown, Massachusetts. The Freetown site has the capacity to generate 5.8 megawatts of renewable energy.

With 19,932 two-metre by one-metre solar panels installed, Freetown came on stream in March 2015 and is fully contracted to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, located about 17 kilometres north of Freetown.

The site uses Canadian Solar 290 WP modules, Suntech 280/290/295 modules, SMA SC500CP inverters and a Terrasmart mounting system.

Milton

Milton is a 0.7 MW rooftop system. The Milton location has 2,487 solar panels mounted on the roofs of four local schools in Milton, Massachusetts, and has been providing renewable energy to the schools since March 2012.

The four locations are Milton High School, Pierce Middle School, Tucker School and Glover School. The site uses Canadian Solar CS6X-290 WP modules, Satcon PowerGate Plus and Solstice inverters and a Panel Claw mounting system.

North Brookfield

North Brookfield is a ground mount system equipped with 12,430 solar panels with the ability to generate 3.6 MW of renewable energy. The facility covers a 62-acre area in North Brookfield, Massachusetts. This project came on stream in June 2014 and is fully contracted to the Greater Lawrence Technical School, located 105 kilometres northeast of North Brookfield.

The site uses Suntech 280/295 modules, AE 500NX inverters and a Terrasmart mounting system.

Environmental highlights

The portfolio is qualified under phase one of the Massachusetts Solar Energy Renewable Credit (SREC-I) Program. Each facility in the Mass Solar portfolio is MA RPS Class I certified.
