Misema
The Misema hydroelectric facility is located on the Misema River, north of New Liskeard, Ontario, near the Ragged Chute facility. The facility began operation in the spring of 2003.
A 280-metre long tunnel carries the water to the turbine, which works at high efficiency regardless of flow. The facility uses a Litostroj turbine and a Leroy Somer 13.8 kilovolt generator.
Misema generates about 14,000 megawatt-hours per year of electricity.
TransAlta owns and operates the Misema facility through its wholly owned subsidiary, the Canadian Renewable Energy Corporation.
