The Big Level Wind Project is located on approximately 6,900 acres of privately owned land in Hector Township, near the Town of Westfield, Pennsylvania. The Project was acquired by TransAlta in February 2018 with construction beginning in February 2018.
TransAlta operates two additional wind farms in the U.S. including the 50 MW Lakeswind Project in Minnesota, and the 144 MW Wyoming Wind Project in Wyoming.
The Project will have a nameplate capacity of 90 MW and will consist of 25 x GE3.6-137 turbines.
In October 2018, TransAlta announced a 15-year power purchase agreement with Microsoft which increased their energy portfolio to 1.2 gigawatts.
