By The Numbers

Mercury emissions have been reduced by 56% from 2009 levels through installation of mercury capture technology at all our coal facilities.

NOx and SO2 emissions continue to be reduced in both absolute levels and emissions per MWh of production, in spite of continued growth in our generation capacity.

The air quality in the vicinity of our coal operations has consistently tested very well, and we have over a decade of data from multiple and continuous air monitoring stations that are independently operated by the West Central Air Shed Society. There have been zero exceedances of the provincial NOx and SO2 ground level standards. The average concentrations of these pollutants are consistently better than the urban air sheds in Edmonton and Calgary.
