GRESB Asset Sector Sustainability Leader: 2016 – 2017
TransAlta Corporation achieved Asset Sector Leader Status in “Energy Generation – Non-Renewables” for the 2017 GRESB Infrastructure Assessment. The GRESB Asset Sector Leaders Awards Program recognizes infrastructure assets that have demonstrated outstanding leadership in environmental, social and governance sustainability.
Silver Level Certification for Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR): 2011 – 2016
In 2017, TransAlta once again achieved the Silver Level certification with the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) for Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR). This certification covered the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 and followed our first PAR Silver level standing in 2014 (covering the years 2011, 2012 and 2013).
FTSE4Good Index: 2006 – 2015
The London, UK based sustainability index measures the performance of companies that meet globally recognized corporate responsibility standards. TransAlta was included on the FTSE4Good Index for the ninth year running in 2015. FTSE Group confirmed that TransAlta has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series.

United Way ”Thanks a Million Award”: 2001 – 2016
TransAlta continues to be an active supporter of the United Way in Canada, the United States and Australia, with employee-driven campaigns at locations across our fleet. This award is given to companies that contribute more than $1 million in their annual campaigns. TransAlta has maintained the million dollar level since 2001.
Hydro Hall of Fame Award: 2013
Our Kananaskis hydroelectric facility was awarded the 2013 Hydro Hall of Fame Award from Hydro Review. The Hydro Hall of Fame was established in 1995. They recognize hydro achievement throughout North America with a special emphasis on long-lasting hydro facilities. This recognition demonstrates the significant and enduring contributions of hydroelectric plants like our 100-year-old Kananaskis facility.
